Meet Captain Allen
World Record-Setting Scuba Diver | USCG 25-Ton Master Captain | Dive Instructor
Captain Allen Sherrod isn't your average dive boat captain. He's a world record-setting scuba diver, longtime dive instructor, and lifelong underwater adventurer.
In 2011, Allen made diving history by setting two world records:
• Longest Open-Water Freshwater Scuba Dive: 120 hours, 14 minutes, and 11 seconds, spending more than five consecutive days underwater in Florida's Lake David.
• Longest Open-Water Saltwater Scuba Dive: 48 hours and 13 minutes beneath the Atlantic Ocean off Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, Florida.
His extensive diving background also includes training professional underwater performers at Florida's famous Weeki Wachee Springs.
A USCG 25-Ton Master Captain, Allen designed and custom-built the Nauti Mermaid, a 34-foot Crusader dive boat accommodating up to six certified divers.
Today, he shares his passion for the underwater world through personalized charters on the Nauti Mermaid, including scuba diving, spearfishing, reef and wreck exploration, scalloping, and stone crabbing.
